A Working Workflow for Work

Work is hard enough. Why add to it with additional work just to make sense of the technology for our jobs? How can we make our jobs more efficient and effective so that we can actually focus on our work without wasted hours figuring out how to do our work? Enter ...workflows. Having a good workflow is not just a personal system for work, it is essential for effective design strategies as well. So when the assignment to create a workflow was announced, I was pleased once again to be challenged with another opportunity to think and work like a designer.

For the prompt, I had to create an app workflow as a platform for Title Inspectors to do their jobs. My user journey map needed to reflect a workflow that would accommodate the needs and pain points of a particular User Persona (named Tim). I will admit that it was challenging. A lot of potential errors had to be accounted for, not to mention that Tim was a user type that perhaps was not the most technologically dependent worker. I am sure my design could have used improvement, but in the end, sketching out possible designs and creating solutions was quite satisfying.

I am glad we got to do this exercise. It challenged me to remember principles of design, account for user error, and be creative. I look forward to engaging in more scenarios like these to improve my working design skills.
